Provisions of Gun Safety Bill that Foley Would’ve Vetoed Begin Going into Effect Today

(Hartford, Connecticut) —  Today, the Connecticut Democratic Party released the following statement from Chairwoman Nancy DiNardo.

“The historic gun violence prevention and school safety bill that passed in the Connecticut General Assembly with overwhelming bipartisan support, and was signed into law by Governor Malloy, begins to go into effect today.  One of the more important aspects of the bill provides additional funding to hire staff in order to complete background checks.  The remaining provisions of this historic piece of legislation will be implemented in the coming months.

Republican Candidate for Governor Tom Foley has said he would have vetoed this bill.”
