EXPOSED: Boughton’s Closest Advisor a Tea Partier, Anti-Gay Advocate & War on Women Proponent

Hartford, CT – As Mayor Mark Boughton gets ready to make his expected announcement to run for governor this week, the Connecticut Democratic Party thinks it’s important to highlight Mayor Boughton’s close ties to one of Connecticut’s most extreme Tea Partiers, anti-gay advocates and War on Women proponents– State Senator Michael McLachlan. Senator McLachlan is Boughton’s closest advisor and former chief of staff, and just this week sung Boughton’s praises to the News Times.

Since the two are such close political allies, does Mark Boughton agree with Senator MacLachlan’s extremist agenda?   Does Mark Boughton support Senator McLachlan’s attempts to legislate women’s reproductive health and force ultrasounds on pregnant women? Does Mark Boughton agree with Senator McLachlan’s anti-gay stance?  Does Mark Boughton agree with Senator McLachlan’s Birther bill?

“It is extremely troubling that Mark Boughton’s closest advisor is anti-gay, anti-women and a Tea Partier,” said Nancy DiNardo, Connecticut Democratic Party Chairwoman.  “Mark Boughton needs to let Connecticut know why he is so close to such a dangerous extremist and if he agrees with Senator McLachlan’s agenda. Does Mark Boughton want to force ultrasounds on pregnant women? Does he support McLachlan’s anti-gay views and Tea Party agenda?”
