Tom Foley’s Tortured Saga on Guns Continues

Hartford, CT – Tom Foley’s pandering just gets worse and worse.  Today, after Hearst Connecticut Newspapers asked Tom Foley about his comments on repealing Connecticut’s common sense gun legislation if given the chance, Mr. Foley tried to walk back the statements he made to the press last night, and that were captured on video. Mr. Foley told the media today that his comments from last night were taken out of context.  Not so fast, Tom.

“Nothing was taken out of context.  Perhaps the confusion arises because Tom Foley continues to give tortured answers to pretty simple questions,” said James Hallinan, Connecticut Democratic Party spokesman. “That’s what happens when you pander: you say anything that strikes you at any particular moment as being the popular thing to say to the crowd you’re standing in front of.  Even if it contradicts something you said to a different crowd earlier that same day.  The fact remains that Tom Foley said he would’ve vetoed the bill Governor Malloy signed, and last night he made several clear representations suggesting that if he gets the chance, he’ll undo one of the toughest, smartest, most common sense gun laws in the nation.”
