Chairwoman DiNardo Statement on Governor Malloy’s State of the State Address

Hartford, CT – Connecticut Democratic Party Chairwoman Nancy DiNardo issued the following statement in response to Governor Malloy’s State of the State address:

“Today, Governor Malloy laid out a bold vision that will allow Connecticut to continue the progress it’s made over the past three years– progress that includes a $500 million surplus, nearly 40,000 new private sector jobs, and long-term debt reduction of over $11 billion. The Governor’s continued commitment to making sure every child has access to a quality education with initiatives such as universal pre-kindergarten, a $134 million investment in our state’s colleges and universities, and the ‘Get Back to Get Ahead’ program to encourage more Connecticut residents to complete their education,’ is critical to Connecticut’s continued economic progress. As a former educator of 30 years, I couldn’t be more excited about the Governor’s investment in our children’s future.”

DiNardo continued, “Governor Malloy continues to fight for working families and he made that clear today by emphasizing his proposals to increase the minimum wage to $10.10 and also to issue tax refunds to Connecticut residents. As the Governor says all the time, there is more work to be done, but today’s State of the State address was another clear indication that Connecticut is on the right path under Governor Malloy’s leadership.”
