BREAKING: WAS TOM FOLEY’S NEW AD PAID FOR BY THE CT GOP?

Hartford, CT — Tom Foley released a “new” television ad today, the graphics for which may have been paid for and produced by the Connecticut GOP prior to Tom Foley’s receiving his public financing grant.

It appears that the graphics in Tom Foley’s latest ad are identical to those of the Connecticut GOP. In February, the Connecticut Republicans put out this ad, with the disclaimer, “Paid for by the Connecticut Republicans. This message was made independent of any candidate or political party.”

Today, Tom Foley released this ad, with the disclaimer: “Paid for by Foley CT.”

The graphics appear to be identical — so how has Foley for CT paid for the production costs of this ad?

How did Tom Foley pay for this if he is limited to his SEEC grant? Does this qualify as an in-kind contribution? With Tom Foley’s $16,000 fine for violating campaign laws, several investigations and complaints pending, and shady ties to super PACs, questions abound.

Screenshots of both ads are attached.
