J.R. Romano needs a personal fact checker

SHOT: According to the Hartford Courant, Connecticut GOP Chairman claimed that “the GOP in Connecticut had registered more new voters during the presidential primaries than the Democrats.”

CHASER: In reality, Connecticut Democrats added more than twice as many new voters than Republicans (41,674 to 19,159) from January – April 2016.

From the Secretary of the State’s office in April:

NEW VOTERS SINCE JAN. 1, 2016
Democratic: 41,674
Republican: 19,159
Unaffiliated: 24,931
===========
Total: 87,085 (including “minor parties”)

NEW VOTERS SINCE APRIL 1, 2016
Democratic: 16,522
Republican: 7,355
Unaffiliated: 8,506
===========
Total: 32,835 (including “minor parties”)

CT Dems’ Reaction: “We’ve always known that J.R. Romano has a hostile relationship with the truth. This is just another example of the chairman getting caught in a blatant lie. It’s no surprise that, with serial liar Donald Trump at the top of the GOP ticket, Connecticut Republicans would adopt his blatantly dishonest tactics. As we have said throughout this election, we expect the Connecticut Republicans who continue to stand by Donald Trump to be held accountable by the voters onNovember 8.” – Connecticut Democratic Party spokesman Leigh Appleby
