One Last Time

(Hartford, Connecticut) – Today, the Connecticut Democratic Party released the following statement from Chairwoman Nancy DiNardo:

“Last night was a historic night. With strong bipartisan support, the Connecticut General Assembly passed a comprehensive gun safety protection bill (SB 1160). Still, Tom Foley, who says he wants to lead our state as Governor, has only given confusing answers when asked about his position on this critical issue.

Last night he gave a long, rambling non-answer when he was asked the question.

The man Tom Foley wants to run against, Governor Malloy, has said he will sign this bill and is doing so at noon today.

Two of the people Tom Foley may need to get past in his own party in order to run for Governor, State Senator John McKinney and State Representative Larry Cafero, both voted yes on this bill.

All of the ‘hens’ Mr. Foley has been talking about cast their votes as well.

Leadership is about taking positions on tough issues. So one last time Mr. Foley, if this bill — this bill, not something else — got to your desk, would you sign it yes or no?”

Tom Foley: Crickets

(Hartford, Connecticut) – Today, the Connecticut Democratic Party released the following statement from Chairwoman Nancy DiNardo:

“What is candidate Foley’s stance on the gun control measure? Would he sign the bill?

We know he casually uses offensive phrases like ‘Newtown bounce’ when discussing polling data, but we don’t know his position on the much debated gun control measure. After hours of testimony and months of debate, not a word from Mr. Foley on the actual bill.

The time for callous political calculations and over the top rhetoric is over. Mr. Foley, where do you stand? Would you sign the bill?”

Still No Opinion From Tom Foley

(Hartford, Connecticut) Today, the Connecticut Democratic Party released a statement from Chairwoman Nancy DiNardo on candidate Tom Foley’s refusal to give an opinion on S.B. 1160 which is currently being debated in the Connecticut General Assembly:

“Last week Tom Foley went to the state Capitol and called the legislators a bunch of ‘hens.’ Today those ‘hens’ are casting votes, and Governor Malloy has said he’ll sign the bill. Tom Foley, the man who would like to be Governor? Silence. Tom, what are you afraid of? You seemed sure of yourself last week when you were calling the ‘hens’ out.

Now that the ‘hens’ are actually casting votes, as the entire nation watches, you have nothing to say? Would you sign the bill or not?”

Tom Foley: Opinion Unknown

(Hartford, Connecticut) — The Connecticut Democratic Party today released the following statement from Chairwoman Nancy DiNardo on candidate Tom Foley’s statements on Connecticut’s gun violence prevention efforts (LINK):

“Just about every time Tom Foley opens his mouth he puts his foot in it. Today’s no different. No one was trying to ‘stretch out the gun discussion,’ Mr. Foley. What the Governor and legislators were doing is something you have no experience with: lead a thoughtful discussion on a serious public policy issue. And it worked; now, Connecticut will have the toughest gun laws in the nation, and children’s lives will be saved as a result. Shame on you for figuring out a way to politicize even this issue. What’s your position on the issue? Would you sign the bill or not?”
