22 MILLION WOULD LOSE INSURANCE: CT Dems’ Statement On CBO Trumpcare Score

Hartford, Ct. – Connecticut Democratic Party Chairman Nick Balletto released the following statement.

“This Trumpcare bill is an absolute disaster, and it needs to be stopped. There is no excuse for passing a bill that would strip health insurance from millions of working people, children, people facing addictions, seniors, and middle class families — all to give a massive tax cut to the wealthiest 1%.

“In Connecticut, health care access for 724,000 people who have gained insurance through the Affordable Care Act — including 217,000 who benefited from the Medicaid expansion — is now threatened. This is not just a federal issue, this is an issue of fairness and decency that directly affects our state. Leaders must stand up when their state and their constituents are faced with this type of crisis, yet we have yet to see GOP gubernatorial candidates Mark Boughton, Tim Herbst, Mark Lauretti, Dave Walker, or Prasad Srinivasan raise their voices on this matter.

“Put simply, Democrats will stand up for health care as a right, not a privilege while Republicans will put party over the wellbeing of Connecticut residents.”
