John McKinney: Out of Touch with Connecticut’s Middle Class

(Hartford, Connecticut) —  Today, the Connecticut Democratic Party released the following statement from Executive Director Jonathan Harris.

“When asked by WFSB’s Dennis House, how plans to win urban voters, Sen. McKinney said he ‘wants to talk about how they are in this economy’.  Talk is great, but when it comes to actually voting on issues urban, middle class voters care about — like education — he votes ‘no’.

“Just this past June, Sen. McKinney voted against over $26 Million in education or early childhood money going to urban centers. McKinney voted against bonding legislation that provided over $26 million to urban childhood centers and schools in Bloomfield, Bridgeport, Bristol, Danbury, Groton, Hartford, Meriden, Middletown, New Britain, New Haven, New London, Wallingford, Waterbury, and Willimantic.”He says he wants to reach out to urban families, but how can he when he consistently votes against their children’s futures?”
