Democratic Primaries on August 9

There are two statewide Democratic primaries this year, so all Democrats in CT can cast ballots on or before August 9. In several towns, there are additional primaries for state legislative seats, which will appear on the same ballot.

CT Senate District 23 (Parts of Bridgeport and Stratford)
The endorsed Democrat is Herron Gaston

CT House District 16 (Simsbury)
The endorsed Democrat is Eric Wellman

CT House District 34 (East Haddam, East Hampton, part of Salem)
There is no endorsed Democrat, but two Democratic candidates are in the primary: John Olin and Kurt Comisky

CT House District 98 (parts of Branford and Guilford)
The endorsed Democrat is Moira Rader

CT House District 116 (West Haven)
The endorsed Democrat is Treneé McGee

CT House District 127 (Bridgeport)
The endorsed Democrat is Marcus Brown

You may apply for and vote with an absentee ballot for the primary election. Applications are available in English and Spanish.

To vote using an absentee ballot, indicate one of these reasons on your application:

  • Active service in the Armed Forces of the United States
  • Absence from my town of residence
  • Sickness (this includes the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic)
  • Religious tenets forbid secular activity on the day of the election, primary or referendum
  • Duties as a primary, election or referendum official at a polling place other than my own during all of the hours of voting
  • Physical disability
