Election Information

The Connecticut Presidential Primary, originally scheduled for April 28th, has been moved to August 11th, 2020.

Secretary of the State Merrill made the announcement on April 17th.

Governor Lamont issued an executive order to permit any voter to cast an absentee ballot in the primary. CT Dems have created a guide to help understand the absentee ballot process.

Absentee ballot applications will be sent to all active voters in advance of the August 11 primary. Return the application in the postage-paid envelope provided to receive your absentee ballot. You may return that ballot by mail (again, postage will be pre-paid), or return it to a secure dropbox in a prominent location in your town. You may vote at your usual polling place on primary day, August 11, if you decide not to use an absentee ballot.

  • You may vote in person on August 11 or use an absentee ballot.
  • Absentee ballot applications will be mailed to every active voter eligible to vote in the primary.
  • Return the application to recive an absentee ballot.
  • Return your ballot in the postage-paid envelope or drop it off in the secure dropbox in your city or town. Absentee ballots must be received before polls close on August 11.
