Governor Malloy: Post Primary Focus Must Be On Winning in November

(Hartford, Connecticut) — Tonight, Governor Dannel Malloy released the following statement regarding Connecticut’s municipal primaries:

“Win or lose, primaries are never easy. But for those who heed the call to public service, fighting for the issues you believe in is often a necessary part of the process.  Once they’re over, we must remember that as tough as they are, they are secondary to our ultimate goal – ensuring that Democrats are elected to lead cities and towns across our state.

As someone who has lost a primary, I know how tough it can be.  But when you look at the Republican agenda, what’s clear is that they want to repeat the mistakes of the past, while Democrats want to move our state forward.  They want to cut services the middle class depend on, while we want to invest in good public schools and work to improve our economy.

I hope that Democratic candidates around the state will reach out to each other and galvanize around what must be our top priority – beating Republicans in November.”
