FACT CHECK: GOP Budget Slashes Education Funding, Taxes Low-Income Families & Guts Programs for Seniors

Hartford, CT – At a press conference last week, John McKinney and the GOP caucuses released their “Alternative Budget Proposal,” but there were many critical cuts they hoped people would not see. For example, the GOP budget cuts $9 million in education funding, $120 million to eliminate the Earned Income Tax Credit, $3.5 million from economic development programs, $3 million from senior housing assistance, and the list goes on.
