Hartford, CT —The extreme right-wing group the Connecticut Citizens Defense League today endorsed Tom Foley for Governor. That’s because he has promised to sign legislation repealing our smart gun law.

The CCDL has tried to claim it’s not an extreme organization — but these members’ disturbing images suggest otherwise. That’s why it’s no surprise that CCDL dumped this news on a Friday.

“The extremist CCDL and Tom Foley standing together today clearly signifies the direction they would take Connecticut — and that is backwards. Want evidence the CCDL is extreme? Just look at the images. They are absolutely shocking, and have no place in honest, thoughtful, commonsense public discourse. This is a far-right group to whom Tom Foley has made back-door promises to roll back progress,” said Devon Puglia, Democratic Party spokesman. “The choice and contrast this election is becoming clearer and clearer: we can continue to move Connecticut forward with Governor Malloy’s leadership, or we can turn back the clock on our state with Tom Foley, who is now standing with an extremist gun group because he has been unambiguous that he would sign a repeal of Connecticut’s smart gun law.”
