CHAIRWOMAN DINARDO’S STATEMENT ON PRESIDENT OBAMA’S STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS
Hartford, CT — Connecticut Democratic Party Chairwoman Nancy DiNardo released the following statement tonight on President Barack Obama’s 2015 State of the Union address:
“Tonight, President Obama laid out his proposals to continue moving this country in the right direction – with responsible and smart initiatives that will continue strengthening our economy, growing our middle class, and keeping our nation competitive in today’s global economy,” stated DiNardo.
“Continuing to strengthen our economy should be our number one priority and from economic reforms that include the expansion of middle-class tax benefits, to closing loopholes that keep the nation’s wealthiest from paying their fair share, to following Connecticut’s lead in providing paid sick leave to our workers and caregivers, the President’s proposed investments are right on the mark.
“Connecticut Democrats understand the link between an educated and trained workforce and that of a strong economy, and also stand with the President in his call for investments in education including making college more affordable.
“The President showed real leadership tonight in having the right priorities to move our country – and economy – forward. We look forward to Connecticut’s Congressional leaders working with the President to support our middle class, and Governor Malloy’s Administration advancing the initiatives at our state level.”
