Hartford, Ct. – Connecticut Democratic Party Chair Nick Balletto released the following statement on marriage equality arguments in front of the Supreme Court today.

“Today is a day of historic importance, the culmination of decades of fighting for equal protection in the eyes of the law. I am confident that the Supreme Court will – finally – recognize that marriage equality is a key civil right. I am proud that Democrats in Connecticut have long been leaders in the struggle for equality and justice for the LGBTQ community.

“But many Republicans continue to cling to prejudice. Just last week, Bobby Jindal – a presidential contender – doubled down on his opposition to marriage equality and his support for Indiana’s right to discriminate legislation. This is 2015. The time has come to move beyond partisan attacks and recognize equal rights for all.”
