“Congresswoman” Klarides: Governor Malloy takes his cues from Obama on social justice

Hartford, Ct. – It seems that GOP Minority Leader Themis Klarides is now on a national media tour – hypocrisy? – and went on right-winger Laura Ingraham’s radio show today. So what’d she say?

On social justice issues, Governor Dan Malloy has “taken his playbook” from President Obama. That’s right. She suggested something was wrong with tackling social justice issues and progress for our cities…from the President who has spent his life fighting for justice and equality.

What was she doing a national media tour about anyway? It seems that Laura Ingraham didn’t know who she was talking to, referring to Rep. Klarides as “Congresswoman.” So why is the House Minority Leader, particularly considering her comments, doing national radio?

“GOP House Leader Themis Klarides’ hypocrisy knows no bounds. First she calls on Governor Malloy to resign, even as he’s a national leader for progress. Yet, two days later, conducts her own national press tour. So what did she say?

“She said the Governor should be ashamed for standing with President Obama on issues of criminal justice reform and social justice. You would think that anyone would be proud to stand with the President who embodies progress on social justice issues. Apparently, that’s not the case for Rep. Klarides. President Obama’s playbook is one of progress, and clearly Rep. Klarides doesn’t stand for that progress. That’s pretty ‘vile’ if you ask us, and maybe she should say she’s sorry.” – Connecticut Democratic Party Executive Director Michael Mandell
