CT DEMS STATEMENT ON AUGUST WOLF’S ANNOUNCEMENT

Hartford, Ct. – Connecticut Democratic Party Communications Director Leigh Appleby released the following statement in response to August Wolf’s announcement that he will seek the GOP nomination for United States Senate.

“We’re happy to see that after months of searching, Connecticut Republicans have finally found a senate candidate to follow in Linda McMahon’s footsteps. August Wolf is already trying to paint himself as someone who understands the needs of working people, but where does he stand on important issues facing working families? Does he support raising the minimum wage or ensuring paid sick leave? How does he feel about Republican efforts to take health care away from millions of Americans? These are questions he will need to answer if he wants to be seen as anything other than a typical Washington Republican.

“Throughout his long and distinguished career, Richard Blumenthal has been a champion for Connecticut’s middle class and small businesses. As Attorney General, he stood up to Big Tobacco and fought to protect consumers from predatory businesses. In the Senate, he has stood up for veterans, helping ensure the passage of the Clay Hunt Suicide Prevention for American Veterans Act. We are confident that the voters of Connecticut will recognize Senator Blumenthal’s innumerable contributions to our state.”
