CT Dems statement on the 50th anniversary of Medicare
Hartford, Ct. – Connecticut Democratic Party Chairman Nick Balletto released the following statement.
“For 50 years, Medicare has allowed seniors to retire with dignity and receive the health care they need. I am proud that every member of our Democratic congressional delegation has fought tirelessly to preserve Medicare for current retirees and future generations. But make no mistake: Medicare is under attack from the Republican Party. Jeb Bush – a leading candidate for president – wants to ‘phase out’ Medicare. And he’s hardly alone. There is no doubt in my mind that each and every 2016 GOP presidential candidate would take proactive steps to dismantle Medicare.
“On the 50th anniversary of Medicare, it is more important than ever to strengthen this essential program. That’s why it’s critical that we elect a Democratic president, and re-elect Senator Blumenthal and our Democratic congressional delegation. The alternative could truly mean and end to Medicare as we know it.”
