Balletto Congratulates Legislative Leaders On Opening Day
Hartford, Ct. – Connecticut Democratic Party Chairman Nick Balletto released the following statement.
“I want to congratulate my dear friend Martin Looney as he is sworn in to another term as Senate President Pro Tempore. It is wonderful to have him back and ready to move Connecticut forward so soon after his kidney transplant. He, along with Majority Leader Bob Duff, have been willing to make tough choices while protecting the needs of Connecticut’s students, working families, and our most vulnerable neighbors.
“I also want to congratulate the new House leadership team, Speaker Joe Aresimowicz and Majority Leader Matt Ritter. They are both principled leaders who will fight for Connecticut’s values first and foremost. I am confident that they will lead the Democratic caucus and the House of Representatives with honor and distinction.
“This year, Republicans have increased their numbers in Hartford, and with that they need to take increased responsibility. We cannot afford a GOP caucus that continues to put forward unworkable and unrealistic proposals solely for political purposes. Republican leaders must come to the table in good faith and work for real solutions for Connecticut taxpayers.”
