ALERT: Dubitsky Votes Against Hate Crime Bill
Since Donald Trump’s election, there has been a well-documented rise in hate crimes across the country. In Connecticut, lawmakers have recognized this troubling trend and are well on their way to passing the strongest hate-crime legislation in the country, with the legislature’s Judiciary Committee advancing a bill to do just that on a bipartisan 38-1 vote. Only GOP State Rep. Doug Dubitsky voted against it.
The Connecticut Democratic Party is calling Dubitsky out for his unconscionable vote.
“This is absolutely unacceptable. On issue after issue, Doug Dubitsky has shown himself to be an extreme, right-wing Republican. With Donald Trump and his national GOP allies attacking Connecticut’s values – from trying to strip health care from 24 million Americans, to proposing to roll back environmental protections, to eliminating heating assistance for the most vulnerable – we need state legislators who will stand up to the president’s agenda. Clearly, Representative Dubitsky is more interested in appealing to the extreme elements of the Republican base than protecting his constituents.” – Connecticut Democratic Party Executive Director Michael Mandell
