As Blumenthal Hears From Hundreds, Trumpcare Is Widly Unpopular In Connecticut

As Senator Richard Blumenthal held an emergency hearing on the Republican Party’s secret plan to strip health coverage from millions of people, the GOP’s “Trumpcare” proposal remained one of the most unpopular pieces of legislation in modern memory with negative approval ratings in every state, according to new polling. In Connecticut, it is even less popular than the national average with 57% of residents opposed to the legislation and just 24% support.

At the same time, a large majority of voters (59%) believe that Congress should improve, not repeal the Affordable Care Act.

“The Republicans’ secret Trumpcare efforts would not only strip health coverage from millions of people across the country and hundreds of thousands in Connecticut, but it is deeply unpopular. It shouldn’t be hard for Connecticut Republicans to show some leadership and call on their national counterparts to stop this horrendous bill, but so far the silence has been deafening.” – Connecticut Democratic Party Executive Director Michael Mandell
