Hartford, CT – After Jonathan Harris announced he was ending his campaign for Governor, Democratic State Party Chair Nick Balletto released the following statement:

“Jonathan has spent his career serving our state and serving the Democratic Party. For over a decade, I have had the privilege of working with Jonathan and I know that he will continue to fight for progressive values and for Democrats at every level of government in Connecticut.

“Jonathan ran a strong campaign and he should be proud of his ability to raise the resources necessary and garner the support to compete in this election. As I’ve said before, this is not an easy process and I respect Jonathan’s decision to end his gubernatorial campaign after bringing an important voice to the primary. Jonathan made our field stronger by showing his ability and determination to fight for our values, for protecting our schools and our communities, to make sure that workers get a fair wage, and for revitalizing the state and bringing in new jobs. I have no doubt that he will continue to fight for these values in whatever he chooses to do next and I hope and expect his continued commitment to our party as voters prepare to make a distinct choice this November between our Democratic candidates who will fight for them and each and every Republican that will only serve as a willing partner for Donald Trump and his national Republican allies.”
