Statement from Democratic State Party Chair on Paul Manafort and Michael Cohen

Hartford, CT – After President Trump’s former campaign manager and close personal advisor Paul Manafort was found guilty of eight charges and another close personal advisor, Michael Cohen, pleaded guilty to eight charges, Democratic State Party Chair Nick Balletto released the following statement:

“Today is a dark day for our country. The confirmation that there were corrupt individuals working to elect President Trump is disturbing to Americans and more importantly to our democracy. Paul Manafort and Michael Cohen were two of the President’s closest advisors, and the guilty pleas and verdicts are jarring and clearly indicative of the kind of campaign President Trump ran and the company he kept. Whether you’re a Republican or a Democrat, we must all come together to stand up against the culture of corruption surrounding this President and his White House. Today is no doubt a stain on America.”
