CT Dems Chair Nancy DiNardo: “Moving the Presidential primary date from the last Tuesday in April to the first Tuesday will give Connecticut voters a greater voice in the choice of their party’s Presidential nominee. 

For too many years, Connecticut voters have been shortchanged by a primary date that came after most of the decisions about the field of candidates in both major parties had been made.  

Connecticut will now join New York and Rhode Island for an April 2 Presidential primary in 2024, making our state more of a priority for candidates and encouraging more voters to cast a primary ballot. 

Today’s unanimous vote is the result of bipartisan cooperation and that’s good for Connecticut voters.”
