Where Does Erin Stewart Stand?
(Hartford, CT) – Today, New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart will announce she’s forming a committee to explore a run for governor in 2026. Connecticut voters deserve to know where she stands on some of the most pressing issues of the day.
Connecticut’s economy is healthier than at any time in recent history; because of Governor Lamont’s leadership there is $4.1 billion in the Rainy Day Fund this year, and more surpluses projected for years to come. What, exactly, would Erin Stewart do differently? Would she spend the Rainy Day Fund, as her Republican colleagues in the legislature have proposed in recent years?
The new Trump Administration has signed a series of executive orders that are impacting the lives of Connecticut residents.
Does Erin Stewart support the pardoning of 1,600 people, several from our state, found guilty of breaking into the Capitol on January 6th or assaulting police? Republicans claim crime is on the rise in Connecticut. Does she see any disconnect between advocating for a crackdown on crime and pardoning felons?
Just yesterday, ICE agents were on the streets of East Hartford, Waterbury and other cities here, looking to arrest immigrants, many of who have made productive lives here. Is Erin Stewart ok with federal agents raiding places of business, schools and neighborhoods with sweeps that terrorize families just looking to make a life here?
The President also signed an order attempting to end birthright citizenship, a provision of the 14th Amendment in effect for more than 100 years. Does Erin Stewart believe that people born in this country should not be citizens?
Erin Stewart owes Connecticut voters some answers.
