CHAIRWOMAN DINARDO’S STATEMENT ON FIRST DAY OF CT LEGISLATIVE SESSION
Hartford, CT — Connecticut Democratic Party Chairwoman Nancy DiNardo released the following statement on the Oaths of Office taken by Connecticut’s six Constitutional Officers including Governor Dan Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman, and the first day of legislative session for the Connecticut General Assembly:
“Today, as we witness the swearing in of our dynamic leaders, I am reminded how far we have come in just the last four years. We have made tremendous progress in moving this great state forward and I am proud of and congratulate Governor Dan Malloy, Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman, Secretary of the State Denise Merrill, State Treasurer Denise Nappier, State Comptroller Kevin Lembo and Attorney General George Jepsen, and all of our legislative leaders on this momentous occasion. I know they will continue to represent Connecticut as a beacon for the nation on how leaders come together to make the tough and bold choices for and smart investments in our future despite challenges faced and tragedies endured,” stated DiNardo.
“I also congratulate the new legislative leadership in the state Senate – Senate President Pro Tempore Martin Looney and Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff – as well as the re-election of House Speaker Brendan Sharkey and House Majority Leader Joseph Aresimowicz. Each of them brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the positions and the chambers will thrive under their helm – and together, I am confident they will work across the aisle to pass important legislation this session and keep moving Connecticut forward.”
