Hartford, Ct. – Connecticut Democratic Party Chairman Nick Balletto released the following statement on the unveiling of yet another Trumpcare bill.

“This bill is a disaster, and it cannot be saved. In addition to the millions of people who will lose insurance nationwide and the billions of Medicaid dollars Connecticut will lose, this bill in effect allows states to discriminate against people with preexisting conditions. This leads to a real question for the people running to be our next governor: Would they stand up and protect people with preexisting conditions, or would they allow people to be thrown off of insurance when they need it the most? Will they find the courage to raise their voices against their party leaders in Washington to make sure that Connecticut does not suffer a massive cut to Medicaid funding? Every Democrat running believes that people with preexisting conditions deserve access to quality health care. Connecticut voters deserve to know where the Republicans in the race stand on this critical issue.

“The Affordable Care Act needs improvement, but it is working. Republicans should stop trying to take health coverage away from millions of people and work with Democrats. Health care is a right, and this bill would be a massive step backwards.”
