Polls are open in Alabama. Connecticut Republicans have chosen to stand with Moore.
Hartford, Ct. – Polls are now open in Alabama’s special Senate election, and, while Connecticut Democrats and activists across the state have been working hard to help Doug Jones get out the vote, Connecticut Republicans have remained silent, an implicit endorsement of the racist, xenophobic, homophobic, alleged child molester Roy Moore.
This follows the lead of the Republican National Committee, which recently resumed its financial support of Moore. Earlier this year, Connecticut Republicans hosted a high-dollar fundraiser for the RNC, raising money that went directly toward electing Roy Moore.
“Roy Moore has no place in elected office and would bring shame to those he represents,” said Connecticut Democratic Party Executive Director Michael Mandell. “While Connecticut Democrats have lent support to Doug Jones, our Republican friends have remained silent — even while many GOP elected officials in other states have spoken out against Moore. The question for J.R. Romano is simple. Will he continue to raise money for the Republican National Committee even as it supports alleged sexual harassers like Roy Moore and Donald Trump?
“Of course he will. Romano’s behavior is complicity, and it only serves to enable this sickening behavior.”
