“The U.S. Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade is a death sentence for women in Connecticut and across the country. Making abortion illegal will not make it go away. Abortion bans will make the procedure more dangerous, in some cases deadly, and already has had horrific consequences for women and children seeking health care.

“For years Democrats have warned that elections have consequences. The stark reality is before us today and Republicans are directly responsible. Abortion is on the ballot this November.

“For those of us who remember vividly when abortion was not legal, and those for whom choice has been a lifelong right, turning back the clock is not an option.

“Across the country, Republican-led states are stripping away abortion rights. Here in Connecticut, Democrats are defending and expanding reproductive rights. As we know, nothing is permanent, and we are one election away from chipping away at abortion rights here. Democrats will continue to support and defend abortion rights.”
