John McKinney: Out of Touch with Connecticut’s Middle Class
(Hartford, Connecticut) — Today, the Connecticut Democratic Party released the following statement from Executive Director Jonathan Harris.
“Sen. McKinney says he is ‘uniquely qualified’ for the office of governor, but his voting record and statements to the press seem to contradict that claim.
“McKinney told the Connecticut Post, ‘I don’t know if we need to pass a bill with respect to job creation’. Why doesn’t he know? The Small Business Express Program has helped save or create 10,000 jobs in the state. McKinney voted against funding the program.
“How could he propose cutting 100% of the aid for public college students? Does he not realize that in the past 10 years the average college tuition payment has increased by over a third?
“Why did he propose $96 million in cuts for health care for the poor, elderly, disabled and families with children? Because he is completely out of touch with Connecticut’s middle class.”
