House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn of South Carolina will be the keynote speaker at the Connecticut Democrats’ John Bailey Dinner, to be held at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford starting at 6:30p.m. on Sunday, October 2, 2022. 

As Majority Whip, Congressman Clyburn is the third-ranking Democrat in the U.S. House of Representatives. He has represented South Carolina’s sixth congressional district since 1993. As a national leader and dedicated public servant, he has championed rural and economic development, and many of his initiatives have become law. 

Congressman Clyburn’s 10-20-30 federal funding formula was included in four sections of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Moreover, because of his work in Congress and the trust he has developed nationwide, he has been instrumental in supporting and helping elect Democrats at every level of government 

The John Bailey Dinner had been an annual CT Democratic fundraising event for more than three decades before being interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic. The dinner was last held in June 2019, when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was the keynote speaker.
