Hartford, CT - Republican gubernatorial candidates were quick to offer their opinions of Governor Malloy’s State of the State address. While Democrats have applauded Governor Malloy for his progressive, pro-worker policies and his focus on fairness, Republican candidates have said the Governor didn’t address real issues and was unfair to businesses and taxpayers. Democrats are putting forth solutions and fighting for progress--what about Republicans?

Roy Moore has no place in elected office and would bring shame to those he represents. While Connecticut Democrats have lent support to Doug Jones, our Republican friends have remained silent -- even while many GOP elected officials in other states have spoken out against Moore. The question for J.R. Romano is simple. Will he continue to raise money for the Republican National Committee even as it supports alleged sexual harassers like Roy Moore and Donald Trump?

In particular, his work over the past year to fight against many of the disastrous policies coming out of the Trump administration -- from environmental protection, to health care issues, to standing up for our immigrant communities -- has shown strong Democratic leadership on a state level can and does make a real difference across the country.
